The Havering Fencing Co was awarded the contract to supply and install 3 kilometers of boundary demarcation fencing around the perimeter track of this active MOD airfield. The airfield is shared with a commercial gliding company and allows public access.
The brief required for a fence to blend with the historic nature of the site and the surrounding common land, whilst being a physical barrier to keep out the public and dogs during flying times.
This historic WW11 airfield is subject to strict planning conditions, the post and rail fencing was chosen to blend with the conservation areas. Access gates were included at strategic points.
The fencing chosen was a 3-rail post and rail fence treated to D.O.T. 30 year life span standards. The fencing also had a hi-tensile tornado wire mesh attached.
